Our friend and EWHN Italian Member, Rino Pavanello, Secretary of Associazione Ambiente e Lavoro (Work and Environment Association) died suddenly last April 26, while working at his computer to complete preparation of a major conference in Milan to mark International Workers’ Memorial Day.
Rino was a chemical sector trade unionist and in 1987 founded Associazone Ambiente e Lavoro figthing for almost 30 year to improve work and environment legislation and practices in Italy.
He was a key campaigner in Italy on health and safety at work, and his role on organinising the last two EWHN Conference in Bologna (2008 and 2013) was crucial.
As Ambiente e Lavoro members write in A&L home page ( “With Rino has gone a Friend, a lover of life and a Master of social commitment.
We will remember forever his endless generosity, deep honesty, his proactive strength and dedication, his ability to see far, to aggregate minds and hearts and to weave networks.
We will never forget the message he left us and his example will remain in time and in history.
We will continue together with humility and to carry forward the ideals, teachings and commitment of Rino, in the knowledge that this is what he wanted from us.

Together with a partner in many campaigns for health and safety at work, with Rino I lose a sincere and great friend.
