World Cancer Day is held on 4th of February to raise awareness about cancer and to encourage its prevention and treatment. There is an increasing need to identify vulnerable and ‘hidden’ groups whose occupational exposure to cancer risks and carcinogenic processes is underrepresented in exposure data and intervention strategies. Workers affected by cancer need to be supported by targeted back to work strategies. These were some of the main conclusions drawn from the workshop ‘Carcinogens and Work-related Cancer’, organised by EU-OSHA in September, 2012 and hosted by the German ministry of labour and social affairs in their offices in Berlin.
